ORGANIC COTTON POPLIN

We have carefully selected cotton poplin fabrics that have GOTS Certifications (Global Organic Textile Standard) from Schenefeld, Germany. GOTS defines ecological and social criteria to which the supplier is required to commit.

The supplier is Europe’s leading Do It Yourself online shop, who offer their own premium organic brand, Tula, produced fairly and organically in India.

The cotton poplin fabrics we buy are 100% organic cotton and are Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified. They have been manufactured under strictly monitored environmental and social criteria, in a socially responsible and environmentally compatible manner and are produced fairly.

The cotton is grown organically using less water and energy, and without the use of dangerous chemicals.

ORGANIC DENIM

We use 100% organic certified cotton denim, that is grown and woven in Kerala, India.

We buy our denim fabric from a family run business based in Machynlleth, mid Wales, who supply organic and sustainable fabrics. Their premises are on the Dyfi Eco Park in a highly insulated unit with 110 solar panels on the roof.

They work with Genesh and his family in India where the weaving is done by hand on small powerlooms or handlooms.

BAMBOO LINEN

We buy our organically grown Bamboo Linen from a company in Crowborough, UK.

The bamboo grows wild in China in huge quantities and is harvested in a fully sustainable manor as it grows so quickly in its natural environment. It is then converted into a thread for weaving and knitting.

The bamboo fabric is entirely sustainable and is fed purely by natural rainfall. No pesticides, insecticides or fertilisers are required and it is naturally more breathable, hypoallergenic and more absorbent than cotton.

It is grown and produced to OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and can be composted at the end of it’s useful life, therefore our designs are working to reduce landfill. Oh, and it doesn’t affect the pandas!

The process to turn bamboo into the quality fabric we use:

1 - The raw bamboo is harvested.

2 - The bamboo is cut into slices.

3 - The slices of bamboo are refined into a pulp with a biological enzyme.

4 - Over time the pulp becomes bamboo cellulose. Softener is then added.

5 - After drying, the bamboo fibre is woven into fabric.

6 - The fabric is dyed with active (vegetable) dyes and a fixing agent is added.

7 - The fabric is then cut and sewn.

The Final Fabric is 100% Bamboo.

RECYCLED FUSING

Our fusing material is supplied from a family-run business based in Dalston, London UK.

The Vilene F220 Recycled Interfacing is a non-woven material from Germany and is made of synthetic fibres – 100% recycled polyester (plastic bottles!)

The bottles are washed and crushed into minute plastic granules. These granules are melted and extruded into fibres. In a multi-stage, integrated cycle a versatile, easy-to-use polyester interlining is made.

Please note:

We ourselves are not certified by any of the certifications, GOTS or Oeko-Tex Standard 100.

Being a small brand, the way we operate makes it difficult to work with large certifying bodies, who naturally have large fees to cover the great work they do.
